It was a long, sometimes difficult, but mostly gratifying process to write my book. Ever since it came out it was fun to show it to people, sometimes autograph it, and flip through the pages.

The topic of this book, male mate choice, has been on my mind ever since I was a budding scientist. My first fully peer reviewed paper was a study of male mate choice in mollies. But it took me a long time to understand how important the topic was in general. Half joking I call male mate choice and female competition the orphans of Sexual Selection – not because they were unknown, but because they were not as well studied as they should be.

It took me even longer to make time for writing the book, but now that it is out I am very happy and proud.

The first copy I got in the mail!
